Philip Barnett

Chairman of the Board, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre

Philip has been a Wolverhampton Business Champion from when the group was first founded and was Chair from 2012 to 2017.

Philip was born locally and has been based in Wolverhampton for the majority of his working life. Although now retired from his role as Operations Director of Marston’s plc, he continues to represent his old company on the Champions group. Over the 40 years he worked for Marston’s (previously known as Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries) Philip held several senior roles in various parts of the organisation including Brewing, Logistics, Export, Sales and Retail. He is a qualified brewer and on retiring was made a Life Member of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling for his services to the Brewing Industry.

Philip is also the current Chair of the Board of Trustees of Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and is in a unique position of representing two of the City’s key organisations on the Champions group.
He is a key supporter of the City and works with the Council, local politicians and other key stakeholders to make Wolverhampton a better place to invest, work, live and visit.

In September 2016 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of Wolverhampton for his services to the City.
